Woolworth Fire

Dear Members and Friends of the Aurora Regional Fire Museum:

Join us on Monday, January 12, 2009 as the Aurora Fire Department and the Aurora Regional Fire Museum mark and memorialize the 75th anniversary of the tragic Woolworth department store fire -- a blaze where three Aurora firefighters were killed in the line of duty.

Those interested in participating are asked to gather at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum at 9:45 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. we will walk in a procession one and one-half blocks south on Broadway to the memorial site where the Aurora Fire Department will conduct a brief service and wreath laying ceremony.

Immediately following this service, the public is invited to return to the Aurora Regional Fire Museum for hot beverages and cookies.
