Caroline Kennedy says no to Senate seat
NEW YORK (UPI) -- Caroline Kennedy cited "personal reasons" early Thursday in announcing she no longer wants to be considered for Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate seat in New York.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Caroline Kennedy withdrew her Senate bid because of a personal matter unrelated to her ill uncle, rejecting the governor's attempt to get her to reconsider, a person who worked closely with her said Thursday.

Kennedy's decision caught even some close to her by surprise, and there were conflicting versions last night of what transpired.
Sources close to Kennedy said she had decided to bow out for "personal" reasons.
