Illinois High Court: Burris Appointment Valid Without White's Signature
Democratic aides say the ruling does not yet mean Roland Burris, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's pick to replace President-elect Barack Obama, will be seated in the Senate. Blagojevich, a former prosecutor twice elected to the state’s top office, is the fourth of the past seven Illinois governors to be charged with a crime. His predecessor, Republican George Ryan, is serving 6 1/2 years in a federal prison for corruption.
