SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. -- A large silo that was leaning on a farm near Sauk Rapids has collapsed.

The silo at Blue Streak Dairy started leaning Jan. 3. Operation manager Loran Kaschmitter says the silo was leaning more and more each day until it fell about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
The 90-foot silo was filled with finely-ground shell corn. Kaschmitter says moisture caused some of the corn to freeze in the upper portions of the silo, causing the corn to unload unevenly and leaving air pockets. He says the uneven load weakened the structure and caused the collapse.
