Peregrine Falcon flies from Lake Superior to Italy

A Peregrine Falcon banded in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in 1993 has been found dead in the Alps on the Swiss-Italian border 16 years later, demonstrating the amazing range of these speedy and durable raptors.
That durability, along with the efforts of Boise-based Peregrine Fund, helped the falcons recovery from the edge of extinction to their removal from the endangered species list. The Peregrine Fund celebrates this spring the 25th anniversary of its move to Boise and opening of the World Center for Birds of Prey.
