Firefighters Make Ladder Rescues In Apartment Fire
CHICAGO (CBS/STNG) -- A three-alarm fire was struck out at an Edgewater apartment building Monday afternoon, but firefighters were still making ladder rescues from the smoke-filled building as of 4:15 p.m.An EMS Plan II has been called to the scene with 10 ambulances responding to the three-alarm fire at 1040 W. Hollywood. Another two ambulances were later sent to the scene, for a total of 12.Newsradio 780's Kris Habermehl reports that firefighters are on the scene and there are multiple ladder rescues on all sides of the Edgewater building.There is smoke on all floors of the building. Reports indicate that one firefighter has been injured. Valerie Fulbright lives in the building next door to the building. "There's ladders all around the building, firefighters are helping people down, they are bringing kids down," Fulbright said. "They brought a little baby down; it was small wrapped in a blanket.
