I don't usually follow what the star gazers watch but this is interesting. Last night I saw this bright like in the western sky and had to check on it. This is a rare occurrence and worth the look. It looked like an aircraft landing light last night. With the moon being so close to it it should be a real sight. And you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to see it.

The Moon is racing toward the planet Venus. Venus, the "evening star," stands well above the crescent Moon tonight. By tomorrow night, though, they will stand side by side.

The Moon slips past the planet Venus this evening. Venus is the brilliant "evening star." They are well up in the west as night falls, with Venus just to the right or lower right of the Moon. They set around 9 or 9:30 p.m.
