This is the first and most complete video take from the beginning of the fire. It was filmed the rear of the church south west on Highland St. My husband had to keep moving further back because of the intense heat. Later he moved around to the north west side of the church. Major wildfire in Kittson and Marshall Counties could have been arson

Arson likely cause of County 27 Fire (Karlstad), reward offered

Fire investigators have determined that the probable cause of a major wildfire in Kittson and Marshall Counties in northwestern Minnesota was arson.  An investigation is ongoing by the Kittson County Sheriff, the Marshall County Sheriff and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.They are offering a reward of up to $6,000 for information leading to identification of the arsonist.

Anyone with information on the County 27 fire is encouraged to contact either the Kittson County Sheriff at 218-843-3535 or the Marshall County Sheriff at 218-745-5411.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, call the Arson Tip Line at 1-800-723-2020.

The wildfire started Sept. 30, at about 2 p.m. in Marshall County north of the intersection of County Road 27 and 250th Avenue NW.  By the next day, it had grown to 500 acres.  On Oct. 2, there were Red Flag Fire Warnings for western Minnesota and states and provinces to the west and north.  Temperatures were in the 70s, relative humidity exceptionally low – in the teens and sustained winds of 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph.

The Red Flag fire danger conditions led to fast moving fires that burned with extreme intensity.  The County 27 Fire spread from Marshall County to Kittson County, burned 4,440 acres, led to the evacuation of part of the city of Karlstad, damaged dozens of structures and destroyed
11 homes.

The coordinated efforts of local fire departments, wildland firefighters, sheriff’s offices, emergency managers, and the National Guard were instrumental in saving most of the homes in Karlstad.

Fires started by arsonists cost Minnesota taxpayers millions of dollars each year.  The cost to those who lost homes is immeasurable.  Please help stop arson.

Palmer Township, Pa-- Palmer Townships Fire Commissioner pulled out of the station and confirmed the worker at 3029 Old Nazareth Pike this afternoon. First arriving ladder 2721 grabbed the plug at Swanson Street and made a short lay in, crews stretched a line and made entry to the fire which was blowing out both gable end vents in the attic. Palmers engine arrived next and took roof operations while crews from Nancy Run set up the FAST assignment, Hecktown's crews stood by for manpower. All in all first arriving responders rescued 2 pets and had the fire knocked with in 5 minutes of arrival. All companies were held on the scene to assist with some minor overhaul, negative injuries were reported.

Allentown, Pa-- Companies working on the 4th alarm in the 800 block of N. 8th Street. Nine homes were reported effected by the fire and five firefighters were transported to the hospital.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor of a 3 story M/O/R, a 2nd alarm was transmitted. 4A requested a supply line a 2nd line and make entry to the fire floor. Truck 2 set up on the alpha side and went to work with roof operations. Companies had issues with the alley behind the row limiting access to engine and ladder companies.
Crews went to work on division 1 with heavy fire on the 1st floor dining room and extension rolling to the 2nd floor. Updates from the outside were heavy fire rolling out the rear, with this Chief 40 requested the 3rd alarm.
The fire eventually took the 2nd and 3rd floors blowing out the roof with extension to multiple exposures, cmd requested the 4th alarm evacuated all companies and went to ladder pipe operations and multiple lines from the exterior.

THERE'S something mean and magical about Australia's Outback. An Alice Springs filmmaker captured both when a whirlwind of fire erupted before his eyes.
Chris Tangey of Alice Springs Film and Television was scouting locations near Curtin Springs station, about 80km from Ularu, last week when confronted by a fiery phenomenon.
He had just finished his tour of the station when workers encountered difficulties with a grader. So he went to help them.
A small fire was burning in nearby bushland, so Mr Tangey decided to start filming.
He caught the sight of his life.
A twister touched down on the spot fire, fanning it into a furious tower of flame.
"It sounded like a jet fighter going by, yet there wasn't a breath of wind where we were," he told the Northern Territory News.
"You would have paid $1000 a head if you knew it was about to happen."
The column of fire danced about the landscape for about 40 minutes, he said, as he and the station workers stood transfixed.
There was talk of making a quick getaway, Mr Tangey said. But everyone was too hypnotised to feel scared - and he continued furiously filming.
"The bizarre thing was that it rarely moved," he said.
"These things just stood there because there was no wind to move them ... but it was flickering incredibly fast."
Darwin weather forecaster David Matthews said small twisters were common in isolated areas. But the fiery vortex was highly unusual.
"The flames would have assisted by trying to suck in air and that could have helped generate those circular winds," Mr Matthews said.

Allentown, Pa.- Firefighters working in the 200 block of N. Jordan on a 2ndalarm house fire. Crews reported heavy fire from the 2nd floor on arrival with extension to the 3rd floor. The home suffered extensive damage and appeared the 2nd floor was gutted from front to rear of the home. Negative injuries were reported, Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced family

This video proves that even a small fire can cause major headaches for firefighters, thankfully Lake Station as usual had an awesome response time. If they were another five minutes out the building would have surely been involved other than some melted siding. The call came in just after 11am for some type of fire next to the food pantry at Columbus Park. On arrival a lawnmower was for engulfed in flames. Crews quickly stretched a line and knocked the fire. Nobody was injured at the fire scene. Once again, awesome job by LSFD

Two bodies found at Tranquil Road fire scene

 

NISSWA — Two bodies were discovered Monday morning at a residence after firefighters responded to a call of a garage fire in Lake Edward Township near Nisswa, said Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl.
The Nisswa Fire Department were first called to the scene about 10:35 a.m. to a garage at 1562 Tranquil Road, off Crow Wing County Road 4, just north of Crow Wing County Road 3 in Merrifield. The residence and the unattached garage were on fire.

At a McDonald's in Coachella (California), a truck with propane tanks in the bed catch on fire and end with a BOOM. Luckily, everyone made it out of the truck in time. They are, however, experiencing second degree burns.

A video on YouTube shows a massive pickup truck explosion at a McDonald's drive-thru in California.

The blast cause the truck’s roof to buckle and the tailgate to fly off and hit another vehicle. The fire engulfed the truck, scorched part of the drive-thru and damaged the restaurant’s roof.

Three Dearborn firefighters had a scary moment while ventilating a roof.

Three Dearborn firefighters had a close call Thursday while attacking a fire from the roof a commercial building and it was all caught on tape.

The firefighters were trying to ventilate the roof of Fordson Cleaners when it began to give way underneath them, according to WXYZ-TV.

The news station's chopper captured the incident as the firefighters were able to scramble off the collapsing section and make their way off the roof.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause is still under investigation.

Another Backdraft, Smoke Explosion Video caught in tape

Not too explosive, but a serious situation none the less. A lot of heavy smoke showing and with FF inside the use of a hose line on the roof comes into question? Just prior to the explosion or what ever it was they were directing a hose line to the roof area. The explosion occurs at 6:20 in the video, you have to watch close to see the helmet fly off.

Crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 402 Madison In New Chicago on 02-17-12, On arrival smoke was showing and a working fire was declared. Crews quickly stretched lines into the house to knock the fire down and a hole was cut in the roof of the living room/entrance. Shortly after the hole was cut there was a violent explosion that blew an officers helmet off his head and blew the leaves in the lawn. We are unsure what the explosion was. There were three members in the structure when this happened and all were ok. One other member suffered an asthma attack while fighting the fire and was treated on the scene. The Lake County Fire Investigators Team was requested to the scene to assist with cause and origin.

A camera attached the helmet of an Alameda County firefighter captures the rescue of a child from a burning building in California. The camera is being used to review fire procedures. Alameda County firefighters rescued three children from a fire Tuesday morning and it was all captured on a helmet-cam.

Two people were injured after jumping from the second floor of a burning home in Detroit as fire crews rushed to the scene.
Video shows the man and woman jumping Tuesday night as smoke filled the home.
The station reports that the man had minor injuries and the woman had serious injuries.
The front of the home was ablaze as the two people jumped.

Police were on the scene at the time and firefighters were en route.

Depew 9-4 went on location with a working fire in a 2 1/2 story occupied dwelling. Crews were ordered out of the building and exterior operations were used.

Clovis Fire Chief Lee Kraft said it may not be possible to pinpoint exactly why it happened. "It was just an accident. Their procedures are fine. The mechanic was changing a fuel tank on a vehicle and fuel had dripped to the ground and hit an ignition source and caught the place on fire."

Restaurant Building Fires Emmitsburg, MD – The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) United States Fire Administration (USFA) issued a special report today examining the characteristics of restaurant building fires. The report, Restaurant Building Fires, was developed by USFA's National Fire Data Center and is based on 2007 to 2009 data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).

Apr 12: This new report from USFA examines the characteristics of restaurant building fires from 2007 to 2009, during which an estimated 5,900 fires occurred annually causing $172 million in property loss.

According to the report:

• An estimated 5,900 restaurant building fires occur annually in the United States, resulting in an estimated average of 75 injuries and $172 million in property loss.
• The leading cause of all restaurant building fires is cooking at 59 percent and nearly all of these cooking fires (91 percent) are small, confined fires with limited damage.
• While cooking is the leading cause of all restaurant building fires as well as the smaller, confined restaurant building fires, electrical malfunction is the leading cause of the larger, nonconfined restaurant building fires.
• Nonconfined restaurant building fires most often start in cooking areas and kitchens (41 percent).
• Deep fryers (9 percent), ranges (7 percent), and miscellaneous kitchen and cooking equipment (5 percent) are the leading types of equipment involved in ignition in nonconfined restaurant building fires.
• Smoke alarms were reported as present in 44 percent of nonconfined restaurant building fires. In addition, full or partial automatic extinguishment systems, mainly sprinklers, were present in 47 percent of nonconfined restaurant building fires.
