Rescue in Rochester: Firefighters make it to mother and two-year-old son just in time. Video and audio from rescue.

Video of the rescue of a mother and child at a house fire Friday morning.

Rochester Firefighters responded for a house fire with the report of two people trapped early this morning on Delamaine Dr. Engine 16 was on location with nothing showing, but further reported smoke showing from the second floor B side. Battalion 1 confirmed people trapped and reported a rescue was under way. The Line Deputy took command and reported a working fire in a large two story with two people rescued from the building. Command further requested an Extra Company which was Engine 10. Engine 17 responded as the RIC and the fire was under control in about 17 min. One adult and one child were transported to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At about 1:38 on the video you can see a firefighter on a ladder to second floor window on Side B. We are told he is being handed the child by a firefighter inside.

Monroe County Fire Wire has audio of the fire here (As always, thanks to Scott Ellman).

The mother told 911 that they were in an upstairs bathroom. Click here for more on the victims and the story from WHEC-TV.
