DENVER --
Firefighters said Sunday it was a miracle that no one was killed when an airliner veered sharply off a runway during takeoff, burst into flames and nearly broke apart.
There was no official word on the possible cause of the crash of Continental Flight 1404 at Denver International Airport. Federal aviation investigators arrived at the airport Sunday afternoon.
The entire right side of the Boeing 737 was burned in the Saturday evening accident and melted plastic from overhead compartments dripped onto the seats. http://cms.firehouse.com/web/online/News/Firefighter--Miracle-Outcome-in-Denver-Plane-Crash/46$62037

A 6-UNIT SHOPPING PLAZA IN PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, was completely destroyed Sunday morning. A fire was reported at 3 am and it quickly spread through the building’s common attic. Virginian-Pilot / Crow photo The mini-mall’s location along a creek bed complicated the firefighting efforts by restricting the operations to one side of the building. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause. The ATF has automatically responded also because one of the business was a gun shop. The 25-yr.-old shopping center is a family-owned operation and the owners are already saying that they will replace building.Fire Destroys Virginia Strip Mall
