Emergency responders say more funding necessary as calls increase
SUGAR GROVE — Emergency medical service is becoming more routine than emergency and that is creating a serious crisis, according to presenters at the Emergency Medical Services House of Representatives Task Force meeting Monday at Waubonsee Community College. “We’re not so much emergency services as health-care services,” said Aurora Fire Chief Hal Carlson. About 30 firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other emergency personnel were invited to provide comments at the meeting, which is the fourth in a series of 14 scheduled across the state.
